WEBFI-WordPress-How to Password Protect a Page or Post in WordPress

Do you want to password protect one or more pages in WordPress? This could be for private pages for specific clients or for getting started if you want to keep your site content a secret until launch. In this video, we will show you how to password protect pages in WordPress.

For the built-in method, you can go to a specific post or page on your WordPress site and in the document settings under Status and Visibility you can change the visibility to Password Protected. Set the password you want your users to input and save your changes, now when someone visits that specific post/page they will be prompted to offer a password.

If you’re wanting to password protect the entirety of your site, WordPress does not have a built-in method to set this up but we do recommend SeedProd that you can purchase from the link above. Install, activate, and in the plugin’s settings add your license key to have it start working. Under Settings, Coming Soon Pro you have the choice to activate the plugin for your site.

If you want to have a URL that people can use to get past your coming soon page you can scroll down the settings to set up a bypass URL. When a user visits with this URL they will view the site without any issues. If you want to only limit certain URLs you can select the Include URLs in the Advanced Settings area. Don’t forget to edit your coming soon page to the design you want it to appear with using the button in the General Settings section.

When I go to edit "Edit Coming Soon page" it brings up a Coming Soon Page. There is no password.

This video more less is useless as user interface looks completely different now and bypass URL is not working. I suggest to either delete this video or update it to a version which works. For example the Access Control Area is now more less hidden in the plugin settings and not as shown in the video under settings.I´ve also contacted their support as their blog entry to this topic also is outdated… https://www.seedprod.com/password-protect-page-wordpress/#password-protect-an-entire-wordpress-site

This is great. In fact I used the free version on a site in the recent past whilst I was developing it. I have started pro bono work for a charity and they've requested a password protected page for "volunteer guidelines" before voluntary work is carried out. They'd like volunteers to read the info and also be able to exclude access to those volunteers who leave the charity. I presume this would require passwords specific to each volunteer. Do you know whether this would be something possible with SeedProd?
