When you first install WordPress you’ll see Akismet and Hello Dolly plugins installed but not activated.

Akismet is for spam filtering and hello dolly was one of the first plugins created when WordPress first started.

There are no practical purposes for the plugin and can be safely deleted without any issues.

In fact, for security purposes any plugin that isn’t active on your site should be removed since hackers like to hide their malicious code in old default themes and plugins.
