Summary of this Tutorial:
We’ll look at 5 categories to use for comparison: cost, ease of use, design, flexibility, and ecommerce.
With Wix the basic builder is free, but it adds Wix branded ads on the top and bottom of your site.
The second issue is you can’t have your own custom domain with the free version.
For WordPress, the software itself is free, but you do need to purchase hosting and your own domain to set up your site.
Depending on your budget, you can go with something as low as $3.95 a month to something like WPEngine which costs $29 a month.
Next is ease of use.
Wix comes with a great drag and drop interface to build your site with and rearrange things on your pages, write content and add media.
WordPress has a visual editor to write your content with and has a theme customizer to let you edit your theme properties, but it does not have a drag and drop functionality so Wix is the winner for ease of use.
Design and layout.
Wix has 500+templates to choose from whereas WordPress has thousands of free and paid themes to choose from.
And if you purchase a premium theme, then you also have premium support with them.
for extending functionality you can add plugins and apps to your site.
Wix comes with 200+ apps that you can add to your site.
Most apps are free or have a lite version and WordPress has over 38,000 plugins to extend your site’s functionality.
Finally let’s look at ecommerce.
With Wix you can have an ecommerce store with their paid plans only and you can only accept payments using Paypal or authorize.net
To sell online you’ll have to pay extra for third party apps for selling online.
With WordPress, you have several free plugins that you can use to build your online store and accept payments via several payment processors with dedicated themes designed for online selling.

I like that you choose – and don't end your video with "now you can choose".
I like that you are short and to the point!
It is unfair considering your username is wpbegginer wix won in the most important category and came close in not so needed ones wix wins
helpful
Brief but thorough and clear explanation – thank you.
Grazie per il tuo, contributo… Ciao ciao
Very helpful, Thanx!
Bad comparison.
You should compare WordPress.COM VS WIX and not WordPress.ORG. You have to refer people to WordPress.com if they need a all in one solution like Wix. You can just as well also not compare Drupal with WIX.
For example, at WordPress.org you need to arrange your own security against. WIX can arrange this for you. At WordPress.COM it will be arranged for you.
WordPress.ORG is different than WordPress.COM.
You might need to adjust this video!
Thank you so much for this video, It was very useful as I was considering switching from wordpress to wix because I am having difficulty setting up my website. I chose to do it on my own as I thought it was going to be easy. I chose a free theme and I have no idea where to go from here. I was about to transfer to wix. After your video I am convinced wordpress is better but I am not sure what to do next.
how many time i pay for domain only for monthly or 1 time for year ?¿?¿
Should I separately purchase my domain or sign up with one of the two web design site?
The numbers don't correlate. WP may have thousands of plugins, but some don't work well and many of them do the same thing. Same with themes–I have wasted so much time trying to find a theme that will do what I want it to. Some have good support, some don't. I'm heading to WIX b/c no matter who has the bigger numbers, if I can't get my site looking the way I want without hiring someone to code it, there's no point.
It depends ultimately what you are trying to accomplish with your site. I use Wix right now but I rely on Adwords to drive traffic… and there is a little known issue on the Wix side that renders any advertising spend a waste. Wix however is great for SEO… terrible for PPC.
Do some video for "Webflow vs WordPress" too !!
Great comparison, very useful. Thank you.
Si lo explicaras en español lo entendería mejor
wix expensive
great video!
ok, now I bought my domain through HostGator and started designing my blog with WP, but I ran into some issues and didn't like that I couldn't customize is how I wanted. So, I went to Wix, designed a wonderful site, thinking I can use it on wordpress… but I soon realized I can't… what can I do now??
Sir…can my website rank better if i use a free wix site…I hope u answer this question sir…Bcoz everybody recommends a custom domain but am not able to afford one at this time..I hope u answer this question sir…
I always recommend WordPress for many reasons. If you need a drag and drop option for WordPress, TemplateToaster is the best tool for that.
I use WordPress for my site and was able to hire a third party hosting company for a lot less. It did however require more work on my part in the beginning.
nice video tnx
